Outsourcery to offer unified comms through HP chanel partners

Cloud services provider Outsourcery is gearing up to sell its own-branded unified collaboration and communications (UCC) services through HP's channel partners following a deal struck between the two companies.

Outsourcery's cloud is based on HP's Converged Cloud solution that includes infrastructure, software and services. HP says it will allow organisations with between 200 and 1,000 employees to improve communications, cost-efficiencies, and revenues.

UCC services available to SMBs include Microsoft Lync for voice over IP (VoIP), video, web and audio conferencing and chat, and Microsoft Exchange for email and document management. They can be deployed either on a multi-tenant platform (with one copy of software serving multiple end users) or in a dedicated environment in Outsourcery's data centre.

Selected partners

Selected channel partners are to provide implementation and support for the UCC systems: Microsoft Gold Partner Damovo, business comms consultancy IP Solutions, MSP Neptune Consultancy Services, and networking, telephony and comms specialist Freedom Communications.

Michael Clifford, Director of Cloud Computing for HP UK and Ireland, said the deal would allow SMBs to cost-effectively deploy UCC on a pay-per use basis with the help of specialised channel partners.

ZTE Geek upgrade could claim world's first Tegra 4 phone crown

ZTE Geek upgrade could claim world's first Tegra 4 phone crown

The ZTE Geek looks likely to be the world's first Tegra 4 handset, as ZTE confirms that one Chinese variant at least will come rocking Nvidia's Tegra 4 chip.

The Geek, which has to be the worst handset name since HTC went with ChaCha, was originally announced back in April, and was the ZTE to rock an Intel processor.

But it's so long farewell to that Intel Atom Z2580 on the upcoming edition known as the ZTE Geek U988S.

Dweeb

Chinese certification database TENAA also holds some spec-based clues - the U988S filing promises that the quad-core Tegra 4 chip will be clocked at 1.8GHz, with 2GB of RAM to its name.

The 5-inch LCD display will come in at full HD resolution (1920x1080) as opposed to the existing Geek's 1280x720.

We don't expect to see the quad-core Tegra 4 toting handset coming to the UK, US or Australia any time soon, as the model ZTE confirmed will only work on China Mobile's network. Stay tuned for more details once the phone is officially announced.

We're also waiting on tenterhooks for word on the ZTE N988, also tipped to come rocking the Tegra 4 chip with a host of appetite-whetting specs to boot.

Moto X gets detailed video tour, Open Mic voice command feature detailed

Moto X gets detailed video tour, Open Mic voice command feature detailed

The heavily-anticipated Moto X phone has posed for the cameras once again, this time in a sleek promotional video for Canadian mobile carrier Rogers.

The demonstration video details many of the new features that'll debut on the device, including the always-listening voice command software that does not require users to touch the device.

The so-called Open Mic feature will allow users to ask questions, bring up Google Now data, set alarms, or get directions just by talking to the device.

It's unclear at present whether the feature will be specific to the Moto X or is available more widely as part of a newer version of Android.

Flashy new camera app

Another intriguing new feature showcased, within the 2-minute video tour, is the ability to launch the Moto X's camera app by flicking the wrist twice.

Users will also be able to capture photos by tapping anywhere on the screen, while holding down a finger will take multiple photos.

There's also a new "Active Notifications" mode. Instead of a nondescript blinking light on the device, the screen will blink softly with an icon from the relevant app, for example Facebook Messenger.

Again, it's not certain whether these features will be Moto X specific or perhaps part of the rumoured Android 4.3 refresh.

With the device set to launch within the next few of weeks with an on-sale date reportedly scheduled for August 23, we probably won't have long to find out.

BlackBerry A10 'Aristo' video leak is a little something we picked up in 'Nam

BlackBerry A10 'Aristo' video leak is a little something we picked up in 'Nam

It seems that BlackBerry's next flagship BB10 smartphone, the A10, is ready to step after the plate after an accessories store in Vietnam apparently got some hands on time with the device.

The device, codenamed Aristo, has appeared in a brief clip posted to YouTube and Facebook by the ViVix Accessories store in Hanoi, and showcases the device's purported 5-inch, 1280 x 800 display with BB10 on board.

The 29-second video, which presumably has been obtained through manufacturing sources in the country, suggests the device will take its design cues from its predecessor, the BlackBerry Z10.

Beyond the larger screen, the only apparent design change is the presence of dual coloured body. The Z10 shipped in black and white, while this one boasts both colours, as evidenced by pics leaked last week.

Not its first rodeo

As we mentioned, this may be the first video appearance, but it isn't the only A10 leak recently. On Friday the device reportedly made its first appearance in front of the cameras with a number of candid snaps.

According to previous speculation the device may boast the same screen size as rivals like the Samsung Galaxy S4, but could be found wanting in terms of specs.

Reports have suggested its only slated to rock a dual-core processor, quad-core GPU to enhance the gaming experience, 720p video recording and an 8-megapixel camera.

Do you like what you see in the video below? Will you be looking to snap up an A10 when it launches "this fall?" Let us know your thoughts.
